North Tahoe FREE Ski Shuttle Starts Today! December 20th

Tahoe skis on snowComing up for the holidays but don’t want to fight the crowds?  The free ski shuttle is back this year starting today, December 20th just in time for the holidays.  Get a free ride to Squaw, Alpine or Homewood from stops around the Northshore.  If you’re staying on the lake looking to get to Squaw around 9 AM I highly recommend this shuttle – traffic on Hwy 89 can back up severely  – the shuttle drops you off at the circle so you you don’t have to deal with driving in traffic, or the long parking lot walks.  If you’re headed to Alpine, you can catch the free shuttle from Squaw.  See more route details on the free ski shuttle here.

North Tahoe Kids Ski Programs

Love to Ski Tahoe? Have kids? If you own a home or wish to own a cabin at Lake Tahoe or Truckee ? I recommend getting our kids in one of our many great Tahoe ski programs.

What you and your kids will gain from joining a ski program is much more than just learning to ski and a love for Skiing Tahoe mountains. Having a daughter on Ski Team ” a very loose term at age 5 ” . I have met many other outdoor like minded families. These friendship between families extends beyond Tahoe. Friends come from all over the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento.

Here is an overview of  two Tahoe ski Programs for Kids.

All the programs are different and meet different needs. As a parent and a skier , I’ve put this together for Parents who ski most weekends and want to get their kids involved.

Alpine Meadows / Squaw Valley

If you have a home or are looking to own a home and love to Ski at Tahoe. Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows at Lake Tahoe has a great program for the younger skiers. I love this mountain and As I  former Ski Instructor, I am a bit partial to the Alpine Meadows program. The terrain is wonderful. The mountain and the crowds aren’t too bad and the coaches are fantastic.  Squaw can get a little busy, but still is a great mountain as well.

Shooting Stars (Squaw Valley) / Mountain Rangers (Alpine Meadows)  – Ages 4-5 is $1,999 meets all holidays and weekends includes a Gold Season Pass (Tuesday/Thursday program is $799 but doesn’t include a season pass)

Mighty Mites (Squaw Valley) / Alpine Rangers (Alpine Meadows) ages 5 – 10 is $2,549  meets all holidays and weekends includes  a Gold Season Pass

Kids Ages 4 and under Free

Alpine Unlimited Lessons – A new program, unlimited lessons at Alpine is $769 for the whole season…it pays for itself in 5 lessons!

Homewood Mountain Resort

Homewood is a small resort on the West Shore, but a locals fav for hidden powder after the big resorts are all skied out.  They also have a great, really affordable kids program.  For Kids team skiing there are a few options & all rates include a season pass.
