Celebrate Kids Day with Reopening of KidZone Museum

KidZone Museum has been closed for the installation of the Aeronautics Exhibit and will reopen to the public on May 18th. Opening night is for the exhibit will be May 17th from 4-6 p.m. The museum is asking for members, donors and volunteers only due to space constraints. Light refreshments and family activities will be provided.

 

If you’re handy, or not so handy and want to help out, volunteers will be needed all week to help get the exhibit ready to launch.

Kids’ Day will be celebrated at KidZone Museum and the Family Resource Center of Truckee from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with kids’ activities, police cars and fire trucks, raffles, food trucks and music. For more information, call 530-587-2513.

Activities include theater games, work on characterization and acting techniques and stage combat workshops. At the end of the session, there will be a recital for friends and family to attend.

Now, anybody may join, regardless of property ownership. PLUS, the one-time membership fee has been reduced to $7,500 (from $35,000). Monthly dues remain $350.

Messy Art:

Young children are natural scientists. They wonder and experiment to learn about the world they live in. Children and their parents will freely explore hands-on science centers each week. Our open-ended activities let kids decide what to investigate and also allow a wide age range of children to experiment at their own level. Parents experience new discoveries with their child, get ideas for activities to do at home, and receive resources about child development. This is a drop-in program, arrive when you can and stay as long or as little as you want. Come experiment with us!

September & October: Splash, Freeze, Squish and Squeeze!
Explorations include: wet and gooey stuff like oobleck, gak, slime, water play, ice, tornado tubes, insta-snow and more!
November & December: Colors and Chemistry
Explorations include: color mixing, water colors, light and color, light table, shadows, cabbage juice chemistry, bubbles and more!
