Having Fun Skiing at Squaw Valley!

If you love skiing at Squaw, you will understand what I mean when I say that it has been a bit busy this holiday season. With all the great skiing here at Squaw Valley, you might want to think of skiing during the week instead of the holidays. However, I took a break to watch this video. Really Funny!

If you own a home at North Lake Tahoe, then you can ski on the weekdays without all the crowds. If you don’t own a home here at Tahoe yet, you may want to consider buying a property now to take advantage of all of our snow.

Avalache Safety Basics

I love Tahoe in the winter and the back country. Sadly both my husband and I know many people who have been killed in Avalaches. Even if you never go outside the ski resort I highly recommend reading this brief tutorial and forwarding it on to anyone you know who loves the mountains in winter! You may save a friend!

Squaw Valley Kids Ski Program at Tahoe

Love to Ski Tahoe?  Have kids? If you own a home or wish to own a cabin at  Lake Tahoe or Truckee ? I recommend getting our kids in one of our many great Tahoe ski programs.

What you and your kids will gain from joining a ski program is much more than just learning to ski and a love for Skiing Tahoe mountains.  Having a daughter on Ski Team ” a very loose term at age 5 ” . I have met many other outdoor like minded families. These friendship between families extends beyond Tahoe. Friends come from all over the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento.

Here is an overview of  Squaw Valley’s Ski Programs for Kids.

All the programs are different and meet different needs. Here is my comparison with all the programs in the North Tahoe and Truckee Region. As a parent and a skiier , I’ve put this together for Parents who ski most weekends and want to get their kids involved.

Squaw Valley

If you love to ski Squaw then really this is your only option.  It is a great mountain for the bigger kids and they will most likely be out-sking you soon, if you put them at the program at Squaw.  It is by far the most expensive program, and I’m not sure I’m that excited about it for the little ones or the beginner skiers. Squaw Valley is a very big mountain, and mountain run is usually the way the kids get back to “The Big Tree” .

I highly recommend getting a locker if your kids are on ski team.
