Lake Tahoe’s West Shore Neighborhoods

Tahoe’s West shore is considered my many local’s to be “the best shore” Summer and falls are especially beautiful. My favorite time of year on the west shore is probably the fall. The fall foliage is just incredible. 

Chamberlands Estates
 With its pool, tennis and bus transportation to the beach and nearby ski areas, it is desirable for rentals in both summer and winter. Values are dependent to some degree on joining the Chamberlands Beach and Mountain Club, but all have access to the beach

Comstock Acres/Granlibakken  An area with a high percent of full time residents with excellent winter access and many level lots.  Many homes owners take pride in their beautiful flower gardens.

Homewood If you are thinking of buying Real Estate at Lake Tahoe that will help your real estate investment in the future. Lake Tahoe’s West Shore is a great value in single family homes.  Homewood Mountain Ski Resort was just approved for an expansion coming 2014.

Hurricane Bay  : Known for smooth water, Split Lakefront homes and a public beach.

Kailua Park-Westlake Village   Low elevation, level lots, good sun exposure, and moderate prices make this a desirable area for locals and second-home owners

McKinney Shores: This Flat, easily accessible subdivision represents prestige and charm. Close to skiing; has its own lakefront association. A few split lakefronts and lakefront.

Meeks Bay  Perfect for summer fun, with white sandy beaches and open settings. This area abounds with Lakeview homes. Occasionally, lakefronts are available.

Pineland : A nice level area with easy access to the highway. A mix of local residents and second homes.

Azure Water of Rubicon Bay

Rubicon:  Quiet; family-oriented. Close to Emerald Bay and Bliss State Park. Beautiful private and public sandy beaches. Spectacular views. Prices vary according to view, location, and age of property.

Skyland:  Skyland is a very nice area with moderate and large lots. Some homes are large and spacious; some also have lake views. Beach association and pier privileges.

Sunnyside/Tahoe Park    :A level, easy-access area with cabins and homes in somewhat close proximity to each other. Most are fifty-foot lots in woodsy areas. Popular for its gated association beach with two piers, playground, and picnic area.

Tahoe Hills  :Quiet; family-oriented. Close to Emerald Bay and Bliss State Park. Beautiful private and public sandy beaches. Spectacular views. Prices vary according to view, location and age of property.

Tahoe Pines   :  “Old Tahoe” a nice level area with some woodsy and secluded areas. All have access to a beautiful sandy beach and pier next to Fleur du Lac

Tahoe Swiss Village :   A quality subdivision with a small gated beach; very few homes some on the market I this area due to ownership by year-round residents and many second home owners that have owner the property for generations.

Tahoma  :Low to moderately priced. Popular with locals. Close to Sugar Pine Park and Bliss State Park. Much to offer for the price.

Talmont /Twin Peaks: A spacious area of nice homes, some with spectacular views of the lake. This area gets more snow, but most homes have good sun exposure. Close to hiking and cross-country skiing; some homes have access to the Tahoe Park beach and pier. 

Tavern Heights : A nice area, with many locals. Close to Tahoe City.

Timberland Private with no drive though traffic. Mostly “Old Tahoe” homes with a few newer larger homes. Has a forest setting with quiet streets. Hurricane Bay public beach is within a mile.

Westlake Village    Westlake Village-Kailua Park: low elevation, level lots, good sun exposure, and moderate prices make this a desirable area for locals and second-home owners.
